Super nice with a new (and better) way of creating dashboards for our users.
Emil Hein
Emil and the team were looking to replace their custom-built analytics solution, which used Echarts and chart.js in Vue.js.
To begin with they wanted to build an internal facing dashboard to showcase key KPI's around their business - this was mostly reporting/financial data. After which they set out to build a customer facing version that only shows the individual customers data.
The team explored both of a custom build, and implementing embedded analytics through a traditional BI solution.
They aimed to find an approach that allowed them to customize all the dashboards they had access to via a BI system (e.g. Tableau, Grafana and Superset), however they did not want to have to go down the custom-build route as it would require them to change the source code of the application every time a little change to the dashboards had to be made.
Like many others, they were not well-served by the 'build vs. buy' options available and needed something to get the best of both worlds.
After discovering Embeddable, the value of the new approach became clear: "[It] looked like a new way of doing it, that luckily supported our recently chosen Druid database"
After exploring further, the team decided to work with Embeddable for three main reasons:
Emil highlighted the two biggest business impacts from working with Embeddable:
Faster building & iterating
"It gives a way faster experience when building dashboard that fits into our own application."
Improved end-user experience
Concept X have used Embeddable to create a self-serve end user experience, enabling their end users to curate their own views of the dashboards. Emil noted that "for end users its a better and prettier frontend than previously."
